Lady Raider Swimming Takes Four Events In Dual Meet At Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Shippensburg University women's swimming team won four events in a dual meet at Canisius College on Saturday afternoon inside the Koessler Athletic Center Pool. Senior Mandi Foltz contributed to a pair of victories for the Lady Raiders.

Canisius won the dual meet by a score of 157-131 yet diving points appear to have been counted. The Griffins were swimming in their home opener against the Lady Raiders.

Foltz won the 200-butterfly in 2:20.25, with freshman Jessica Stusnick just behind in 2:21.64. Freshman Rachel Ballard won the 200-breaststroke in 2:31.02, edging Canisius swimmer Alex Vitale by 0.27 seconds. Sophomore Amy Fisher earned a seven-second victory in the 500-freestyle over freshman Jamie Hepburn with a time of 5:26.74.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Foltz, junior Whitney Garner, freshman Nicole Capozzi and senior Theresa Simcic won by more than eight seconds with a time of 3:43.64.
