SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - The Shippensburg field hockey team out-shot visiting Slippery Rock 35-0 and recorded 23 penalty corners en route to a 1-0 victory over The Rock on Saturday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex. It is the fourth consecutive win for Shippensburg, who finished a stretch of three games in five days.
The Lady Raiders also recognized seniors
Jenna Blain,
Kim Davies,
Natalie Faith,
Dani Haas and
Carolyn Swift in pre-game ceremonies. The senior class has contributed to 63 victories since the start of the 2005 campaign, the fifth-most of any four-year class in school history.
Shippensburg (14-3, 5-2 PSAC West) scored the lone goal of the game with 5:32 remaining in the first half on the 10th goal of the season from freshman
Kristina Taylor. She fired in a pass from Haas to give the Lady Raiders the lead in the first half.
Junior
Amanda Houser did not face a shot in the game and recorded her eighth shutout of the season.
Shippensburg returns to action on Tuesday for a crucial regional contest at Kutztown that begins at 4 p.m.
