SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Lady Raider senior forward Kim Davies recorded career highs for goals (four) and points (10) in a single game to lead the Shippensburg field hockey team to an 8-0 shutout victory over Millersville on Thursday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex. Junior Amanda Houser recorded her seventh shutout of the season.

Shippensburg (13-3) dazzled in the first half, out-shooting the Marauders 17-0 and recording nine penalty corners to earn a 5-0 halftime lead. Senior Carolyn Swift scored her first career game-winning goal to open the scoring at 15:32.

Davies would have a hand in the next six goals scored by Shippensburg. She assisted on junior Laura Wylde's eighth goal of the season at 17:14 and then added a goal of her own just 48 seconds later to give Shippensburg a 3-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Davies fired a shot that was stopped by Millersville's Sara Dickinson, but freshman Kristina Taylor jammed in the rebound for her ninth goal of the season while extending the lead to four. Davies then scored back-to-back goals over an 11-minute span with assists from Taylor and junior Jamie Doughty.

The senior forward added another goal at the 49:30 mark to cap off her career day. Her previous single-game high for points was eight on Sept. 11, 2007 with a hat trick and two assists against Slippery Rock. Davies now has 19 goals through 16 games played this season.

Sophomore Kristen Brooks rounded out the scoring in the final minute off an assist from sophomore Kelly Whittemore.

Houser made three saves for the shutout, stopping several Millersville scoring chances that occurred early in the second half. She remains second in the conference in shutouts behind IUP's Lydia Dolly.

Shippensburg will honor its five seniors (Davies, Swift, Natalie Faith, Dani Haas and Jenna Blain) in ceremonies before the team's final home game this Saturday against Slippery Rock. The game will start at noon.
