Gallery: (8-11-2023) Men's Basketball 2023 Italian Tour
The Shippensburg University men's basketball team completed a tour of Italy from Aug. 4-11 in which it played two exhibition matches against local club teams and capped off a three-week stretch of its preseason with memorable sightseeing, tours, history and team building.
The Raiders began their trip by landing in Milan, and over the first two days of the trip toured
capitale morale, took a boat trip on Lake Como, visited the countryside in Montecarlo.
It was less than 48 hours into the trip that the team played and won their first exhibition, 81-74 over a strong Pro Club Italia team! Highlights below!
Day 3 featured a drive south, stopping by the Ferrari Museum and the countryside of Montecarlo along the way.
Days 4 and 5 featured time in the magical cities of Siena and Florence and ended in Rome!
After touring Vatican City during the morning and early afternoon of Day 6, the team played its second exhibition that night – a lopsided 77-42 victory!
The final day was spent in Rome and included a bike tour of the Appian Way. It culminated a three-week stretch that began with practices in Heiges Field House before an unforgettable week in Italy.
