Miranda Fisher enters her 13th year as an assistant director of sports medicine in 2024-2025 and her 14th year overall as a member of the Shippensburg University sports medicine staff.

Fisher joined the sports medicine staff in August 2011 as an assistant athletic trainer before being appointed to the role of acting assistant director of sports medicine in March 2012. She earned a permanent appointment to the role on June 1, 2013.
 
Fisher is a nationally board-certified athletic trainer with an athletic training license in Pennsylvania and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA), Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA), Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers’ Society (PATS). 

At Shippensburg, she provides injury prevention, emergency care, treatment, and develops rehabilitation protocols for student athletes. Fisher also holds additional responsibilities in the sports medicine department - helping to administer physicals, providing medical coverage for summer athletic camps, and assisting with the drug testing of student-athletes.

She is also a certified Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). In 2019, Fisher completed a Group Crisis Intervention Training in conjunction with the Critical Incident Stress Management Program (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation).
 
Currently, Fisher is the chairperson for the Department of Athletics Mental Health and Wellness Committee. Fisher serves as the Mental Health Liaison between athletics and the SU Counseling Center, which includes development and annual review of the mental health referral plan and planning mental health education for the student-athletes and department. She also conducts all mental health screens annually for all student-athletes. 

Additionally, Fisher serves as the treasurer for the Pennsylvania Athletic Trainers Society (PATS) and a Shippensburg University Student-Athlete Welfare Committee member. APSCUF Social Justice Committee since 2022 and the SU Wellness Committee since 2022.  
 
Another integral role for Fisher is as the advisor to Tau Kappa (TK), a service honors sorority for female student-athletes. Fisher is active with TK initiatives, including fund-raising efforts for breast cancer awareness. One of TK’s most successful ventures is Project Prom Dress, an event designed to ease the financial burden on teen girls in local areas. TK has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Shippensburg for a Girls and Women in Sports Day. 
 
In addition to TK, Fisher serves as the advisor for Oneship, the student-athlete diversity equity and inclusion group.  The group unites with its student-athletes, coaches, staff, and faculty of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and contributions to uphold the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion by creating and sustaining an anti-biased and anti-racist environment in athletics and in our broader communities. Oneship participates in the NCAA diversity equity and inclusion social media campaign.  They also host oneship games, voter registration campaign, and guest speakers to promote connections and difficult conversations. 
 
Also at Shippensburg, Fisher served as a member of the NCAA Choices Grant Committee. SU completed the three-year grant initiative for alcohol and substance abuse education and programming in 2019. She also served on the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athletic Training Mental Health Management Planning Committee in 2017-18.

Fisher earned a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2010 from Lock Haven University along with a minor in sports and exercise psychology.
 
In December 2011, Fisher earned her master’s degree in exercise science and health promotion with a concentration in sports psychology from California University of Pennsylvania. In 2014, she completed a certificate program in Sports Counseling through California University of Pennsylvania. 
 
After graduating from Lock Haven, Fisher spent a year working at Virginia Commonwealth University as an athletic training intern. While at VCU, Fisher was the certified athletic trainer for the volleyball team and the men’s and women’s tennis teams.
 
Fisher is currently enrolled in Temple University’s Doctorate of Athletic Training program where she will graduate in 2026.  

A native of Newville, Fisher currently resides in Shippensburg with her St. Bernard Sage, a certified therapy dog through Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
