Dave Miller is in his 13th year as an assistant coach on the Shippensburg University men’s basketball staff in 2025-26.
 
Miller, who boasts more than 50 years of coaching experience and 700 career victories, provides valuable counsel to the team and head coach Chris Fite. He assists with the team’s post players and also serves as an instructor on defense.
 
For 20 years, Miller was the head coach at Frederick (Md.) Community College – guiding the Cougars to a 347-233 record and 11 consecutive Region XX Tournament appearances.  He was named the JUCO Coach of the Year in 2002 and the Region XX Coach of the Year in 2010. Miller was inducted into Frederick CC Hall of Fame in 2016.
 
Miller also spent 24 years as a high school coach in Maryland, with stints at Poolesville (1968-81), where he is a Hall of Fame member, and Walkersville (1981-93) High Schools. Walkersville won Maryland State Championships in 1984 and 1986 and was ranked in the Area Top 10 for 12 consecutive seasons.
 
His vast basketball knowledge, coaching success and athletic ability as a player led to his induction in 2003 to the Alvin G. Quinn Sports Hall of Fame in Frederick, Md. and in 2005 to the Mercer County Hall of Fame. Miller was also inducted into the Sharon High School Hall of Fame in 2016.
 
A native of Sharon, Pa., Miller is a 1968 graduate of Edinboro University. He was a senior captain who guided the Fighting Scots to the 1968 PSAC Championship title.
 
Miller and his wife Lois have been married for more than 50 years. Theu have a son, Brian, a daughter-in-law, Tina, and two grandchildren, Bryce and Jordyn.
