Biography

2008-09 (R-Sophomore): Continued his dominance of the 174-pound weight class by finishing the season with a mark of 27-5 and leading the Red Raiders in falls (six) and technical falls (three)…won the Super Region 1 title at 174 pounds with four consecutive victories, including a victory by fall in the championship match over Belmont Abbey’s Andy Phillips…recorded a fall in 55 seconds at the Division II National Championships over Ben Becker of Minnesota State Mankato…finished third at the PSAC Championships, recording three consecutive victories after a loss in the opening round…among his conference championship victories was a fall in 2:25 over Kutztown’s Dave Zeek…compiled an 11-match winning streak from February 3 through March 13 at the national championships…earned seven major decisions during the season…opened his sophomore campaign with eight consecutive victories, including a first-place finish in the Washington & Jefferson Open…achieved his quickest victory by fall in 18 seconds over Gannon’s Chris Daniels…two of his pins came in 55 seconds or less…convincingly won both of his matches at the “Shorty” Hitchcock Memorial Classic before having to take a medical redshirt and sustain one his five losses during the season…allowed more than three points against him in just three of his victories during the season.

2007-08 (R-Freshman): Emerged as one of one the conference’s best wrestlers at the 174-pound weight class in his first full season with the Red Raiders by recording 28 victories… totaled a team-high nine falls and five technical falls while also earning seven major decisions on the season…opened the season with four consecutive victories over athletes from Scranton, Pitt-Johnstown and Duquesne en route to a second place finish at the Wheeling Jesuit Open…took first in the East Stroudsburg Open winning all six matches including two major decisions… placed fourth at the Nittany Lion Open wrestling entirely Division I competition, recording falls against wrestlers from Michigan State, Columbia and Navy…finished sixth at the PSAC Championships, earning a victory against Jeremy Brooks of Millersville… fastest pin came in 49 seconds…earned one victory at NCAA East Region Championships with a 5-2 decision over Curtis Beardsell of Kutztown.

2006-07 (Freshman): Wrestled in two tournaments while taking a red-shirt in his debut season for Shippensburg…earned two major decisions and finished in fourth place at 174 in the Edinboro Open…recorded a 12-4 decision over Pennsylvania’s Dan Zander at the “Shorty” Hitchcock Invitational and a 10-2 decision over Central Michigan’s Eli Borton…won four consecutive matches at each tournament in which he competed.

Personal: Full name is Christopher Dean Barrick…born on Oct. 29, 1987…is the son of Larry Barrick and Cindy Swarner…majoring in geoenvironmental studies.
