John Hubert returns to Shippensburg University as an assistant coach for women’s tennis team in the 2022-23 season.
Hubert spent eight seasons as the head coach of the Shippensburg State College Men’s Tennis team from 1979 until 1988.
Hubert attended Lock Haven and played for the men’s tennis team at No. 2 singles and doubles. He set a school record for career singles wins with 24, a record that has since been broken. As a prep athlete, Hubert graduated from West York Area High School and was the York County Interscholastic Athletic Association (YCIAA) singles champion.
After graduation, Hubert taught Health and Physical Education at the Shippensburg Area Middle School for 35 years, beginning in 1978. During this time, Hubert coached both middle and high school boys and girls basketball, as well as middle school football.
