Shippensburg alum Chris Kurtz is working the Raider swim program as a volunteer assistant coach. As a Raider from 2002-06, Kurtz specialized in distance freestyle and individual medley events while swimming under current head coach Tim Verge.
Kurtz was a four-time individual PSAC placewinner with the Raiders, earning eighth place in the 400-yard individual medley as a freshman in 2003 and ninth place in the same event as a senior in 2006.
As a junior, Kurtz placed 11th in the 400-yard individual medley and 12th in the 1,650-yard freestyle. He also contributed to the 800-yard freestyle relay squads that placed fourth in 2005 and fifth in 2003.
A native of Hummelstown and a graduate of Hershey High School, Kurtz is married to former SU All-American swimmer Erin Goodhart.
