Zak Kruger joins the SU women’s soccer coaching staff in 2016 as a graduate assistant coach. He holds USSF National ‘D’ and NSCAA Goalkeeper Level 3 coaching licenses.
Kruger is familiar with the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), having played for two years (2012-13) at Millersville University. A goalkeeper, Kruger was a PSAC Scholar Athlete who contributed to a pair of successful Marauder teams – including a 2013 appearance in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Prior to his playing career, Kruger served as a student assistant coach for the men’s and women’s teams during the 2010 season. The next year, Kruger was a student assistant for the women’s team in 2011 while also working as a student assistant for the Lancaster Bible College men’s team. The majority of his work focused on goalkeeping instruction.
Kruger has also accrued significant coaching experience since his graduation, particularly on the youth level. For the last two years, Kruger has been the head coach of the ASA United GU16 team in the Arundel Soccer association. At Arundel High School, Kruger has served as a varsity assistant coach and the head coach of the junior varsity girls squad.
Additional coaching experiences include work with Penn Legacy and the Penn Manor Youth Club. This past summer, he was the assistant goalkeeper coach for the Baltimore Kings Soccer Club.
A native of Hanover, Kruger graduated from Millersville in May 2014 with a degree in technology education and a minor in coaching. Kruger began his SU graduate studies in January 2016; he is seeking a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.
