Nicole Meehan is in her fifth season as the Shippensburg University head women’s lacrosse coach in 2021.

Meehan has directed the Raiders to 22 victories at the helm of the Raider program. SU players have totaled six All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) classifications during her tenure.

In 2019, senior defender Valerie Hertz and sophomore attacker Alana Cardaci earned All-PSAC accolades. Hertz, a three-time All-PSAC First Team honoree, finished her illustrious Raider career with a school-record 154 caused turnovers and ranked second in school history with 227 career groundballs. Cardaci scored 53 goals in 2019 – the most by a Raider in 12 years (Kristin Crutchfield, 53, 2007).

Meehan arrived at Shippensburg after spending the 2014 and 2015 seasons as an assistant coach to Jen Muston at nearby York (Pa.) College. The Spartans are a perennially strong Division III program that won 27 games during Meehan’s two years as an assistant – qualifying both seasons for the NCAA Tournament including an NCAA Regional Final (Elite 8) in 2015. Her coaching focuses at York were on offense and the midfield.

As a collegiate athlete, Meehan excelled as a four-year starter in the midfield at East Stroudsburg University – totaling 107 goals to rank among the Top 15 scorers in Warriors history. She started all 68 games in her career – including 19 games as a freshman in a season where ESU advanced to the PSAC Semifinals with its first victory in a PSAC Tournament in 25 years.

Meehan was selected to play in the Prague International Cup Tournament in the Czech Republic following her sophomore season. After a 35-goal season as a senior, she was named ESU’s Team MVP. Overall, Meehan totaled 132 points and nearly 100 groundballs with the Warriors, finishing fourth all-time with 15 career hat tricks.

Prior to college, Meehan played four years of lacrosse and two years of soccer at Owen J. Roberts High School. Her lacrosse career included All-PAC 10 and All-Area First Team honors. As a senior in high school, Miller was named her high school’s Female Athlete of the Year.

She has been an active club coach – having worked more than five years with Dynamite Lacrosse. She has also coached with Lanco Elite.

Meehan graduated from East Stroudsburg in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in public health and a minor in community health. She earned her master’s degree in sports management from Cal U. in 2018, concentrating in intercollegiate administration.

A native of Pottstown, Meehan is married to her husband Scott – an assistant men’s lacrosse coach at Saint Joseph’s. The couple are the proud parents of a newborn son, Tully Michael.
