Mary Alice Powers, "Coach Maps," joins the SU lacrosse staff in 2016 as an assistant coach.
 
Powers arrives at Shippensburg after spending the 2013 and 2014 seasons at Saint Vincent College as a graduate assistant lacrosse coach. With the Bearcats, Powers helped coach the defense and instructed the goalkeepers while also providing valuable assistance with recruiting, travel and day-to-day operations.
 
As a collegian, Powers spent four seasons as a Division I player at the University of Oregon. As a defender with the Ducks, Powers played in 27 games during her career and graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in English.
 
Powers earned her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction and a teaching certification in Secondary English from Saint Vincent in 2014 before completing her student-teaching experience at nearby Big Spring High School.
 
In her high school career, Powers was a two-sport athlete, playing tennis and lacrosse. She was a four-year Central Penn All Star at Dallastown High School who earned multiple Team MVP awards. Powers also played for the SEPA club squad.
 
Powers also has accrued significant instructional experience by working at numerous lacrosse camps, in particular the Saint Vincent College Nike Camp. Since 2009, Powers has hosted multiple skill sessions at the annual camp.
 
A native of York, Powers lives in Shippensburg.
