Biography
2012 (Junior): Pryor battled injury during the cross country but came through during the postseason as a scoring performer in NCAA competition during her first season with the Raiders. She earned All-Atlantic Region honors with a 17th-place finish as SU’s No. 4 runner and went on to serve as SU’s No. 6 runner at the national championships. She made her Raider debut with a fifth-place finish at the Piper Open/Alumni Challenge, completing 4K in 15:33. For her academic success, Pryor was named to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team. During the track season, Pryor was a NCAA outdoor qualifier at 10K – she finished second in the event at the PSAC Championships – and a NCAA indoor qualifier with SU’s distance medley relay. Pryor also finished third in the 1,500 meters at the PSAC Outdoor Championships. At the PSAC Indoor Championships, Pryor finished fourth in both the mile and at 5K. Â
2011 (Sophomore): In her second season with the Griffins of Seton Hill, Pryor made a significant impression – finishing as the runner-up at the WVIAC championships for her second consecutive All-WVIAC finish. Pryor, the team’s MVP, also earned All-Atlantic region honors after a 20th-place finish at the NCAA regional. During the cross country season, Pryor was a three-time WVIAC Runner of the Week – including once after winning the White race at the Paul Short Invitational. Later in the year, Pryor thrived on the track. During the outdoor track season, Pryor was a NCAA qualifier in the 10,000 meters and won WVIAC titles in both the 5K and 10K. In two years at Seton Hill, Pryor set both the all-time WVIAC 5K and 10K championship meet records in addition to seven school track records. She also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic honors for the second straight year.
2010 (Freshman): Pryor started out as a progressing distance runner for the Griffins of Seton Hill in her first year with the team. She earned All-WVIAC cross country honors after placing 10th at the conference championships. In addition, Pryor was named the most valuable rookie by her cross country team and later received USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
Northern Lehigh High School: Pryor totaled eight varsity letters for the Bulldogs under coach Dave Oertner. She was a three-time PIAA state qualifier at the ‘AA’ level from 2007-09 and earned numerous District XI and Colonial League All Star citations. For her high school, Pryor was named the most valuable track athlete in 2008 after establishing the school record in the mile and was voted as a three-time MVP of the cross country team.
Personal: Stephanie Aleen Pryor is the daughter of Bryon and Pamela Pryor. She is majoring in communication/journalism.
