2008 (Sophomore): In her second year with the team, Kane continued to progress as a cross country runner and competed in four events during the season. She earned Top 25 finishes in the first two meets of the season, placing 21st at the Alumni Open with a 4K time of 16:22 and 20th at the Lock Haven Invitational with a 6K time of 24:57. Kane went on to improve her 4K time by 33 seconds with a time of 15:49 at the Dickinson Invitational and improve her 6K time by 54 seconds with a time of 24:03 at the Penn State National Invitational.
2007 (Freshman): Kane completed a solid freshman campaign in which she accumulated a wealth of experience for the coming years. She competed in all eight meets on the season and was among the team’s top five finishers in six of them. Kane was the third-fastest Lady Raider in the opening two meets of the season, finishing in 16:22 at the Alumni Open and in 20:36 at the 5K NYU Invitation¬al. Her top 6K time of the season came when it counted most - as she recorded a time of 23:32 at the NCAA East Regionals. During the track season, Kane ran an outstanding race at the PSAC Out¬door Championships, placing sixth in the steeplechase with a time of 11:58.
Gettysburg High School: Kane concluded a strong senior season for the Battlers. She ran a personal best time of 11:37 in the 3,200-meter event at the Baldwin Invitational and finished the PIAA District 3 AAA Championships with a time of 11:48.61. She won the Don Stoner Invitational in Maryland with a time of 20:32.
Personal: Mary Catherine Kane is the daughter of Tim and Rose Kane. She was born on Jan. 13, 1989 and is majoring in history while seeking a social studies teaching certificate.
