Stephanie Knauer is in her second stint as a Shippensburg University women’s basketball assistant coach and is in her third season overall with the team in 2021-22.
She began her coaching tenure at Shippensburg as an assistant during the 2017-18 season and the 2018-19 season while she completed her graduate studies.
Knauer was a four-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) award winner and a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Division II All-America honorable mention performer for the Raiders from 2012-17.
She finished her SU career with 1,662 points, which ranked eighth in school history at the time of her graduation. Knauer’s 866 career rebounds rank sixth in school history. Her career field-goal percentage of 59.4 ranks second in school history, while her 648 free-throw attempts rank third.
As a graduate student in her final season, Knauer received WBCA All-America honorable mention and was named the 2016-17 PSAC Eastern Division Athlete of the Year after shooting a school-record 63.8 percent from the field, a rate that ranked second in NCAA Division II. Knauer led the Raiders in scoring, averaging 14.0 points per game, and averaged 5.8 rebounds per game.
A native of Hatfield, Knauer earned her bachelor of arts in psychology from Shippensburg in 2016 and a master of science in mental health counseling from Shippensburg in 2018. She also earned a post-master’s certificate in alcohol and drug counseling from Shippensburg.
