Miranda Payne is in her third season with the Shippensburg University women’s basketball coaching staff and maintains an active role with game preparation and instruction.
Payne graduated in May 2012 from Clarion University with a degree in sports management. She spent two seasons (2010-11 and 2011-12) playing at the guard positions for the Golden Eagles and head coach Gie Parsons, appearing in 32 games.
Before Clarion, Payne earned an associate’s degree from Hagerstown Community College and played two seasons with the Hawks under coach Marlys Palmer. She earned All-Conference and All-Region accolades as a sophomore where she averaged 18 points and five assists per game.
Payne became known locally after breaking the area’s high school scoring record, as she recorded 2,446 career points at Cumberland Valley Christian School under head coach Jon Shannon. She was a three-time All-Conference performer, MDCC Player of the Year and 2008 Chambersburg Public Opinion Player of the Year who broke the Franklin & Fulton County boys’ and girls’ scoring records.
At Shippensburg, Payne is studying toward a master’s degree in organizational development and leadership, concentrating in social structures and organizations.
