Lauren Gold is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Shippensburg University women’s basketball team.
Gold played for Shippensburg from 2013-17, finishing her career as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) career record holder for free-throw percentage (89.2 percent; 496-of-556). Gold is the only SU women’s basketball player to have multiple seasons shooting 90 percent or better from the free-throw line. She graduated No. 6 all-time at the NCAA Division II level for career free-throw percentage.
After 114 career games as a Raider, Gold finished fourth in school history with 467 assists. Her 1,293 points, including 165 three-pointers, ranks 18th in school history. She earned All-PSAC East Second Team honors as a sophomore after being named the 2014 PSAC Eastern Division Freshman of the Year.
Gold, a native of Elkins Park, is currently enrolled in graduate school at Shippensburg and serves as a graduate assistant in the office of academic support services. Gold earned her undergraduate degree in human communications studies in May 2017.
