Former Delta State forward Kirsten McBride returns to the women's basketball coaching staff as a graduate assistant coach. McBride graduated in 2009 with a degree in biology after completing a three-year career with the Lady Statesmen in which she made two consecutive Division II Final Four appearances and won three Gulf South Conference championships while her teams compiled an overall record of 91-12.
McBride appeared in 103 games during her career at Delta State, totaling 506 points and 291 rebounds over the course of three seasons. Along with her Lady Statesmen teammates, McBride specialized in outstanding defense, as Delta State ranked first in the Gulf South Conference last season and fourth in Division II by allowing opponents an average of just 52 points per game.
As a senior, McBride shot 52 percent from the field and appeared in all 37 of the team's games, making 12 starts. She averaged 4.9 points and 3.1 rebounds per game to along with 15 minutes per contest.
At Delta State, McBride was a part of one of the most successful programs in the history of women’s collegiate basketball. The Lady Statesmen have compiled the most victories by any team in Division II history and has won six national championships, 15 Gulf South Conference titles and 13 NCAA regional trophies.
McBride is one of three children along with brothers Leroy III and Corey. She is studying psychology at Shippensburg.
