Lori Knopf, a December 2009 graduate of Shippensburg, joins the coaching staff and will assist the team this season. Knopf was a two-time All-PSAC honoree, once in 2008 as a designated player and once in 2009 as a pitcher.
Knopf was one of the most versatile and valuable players for Shippensburg in recent years. She finished her senior season in 2009 with a 16-5 record in the circle and a 1.85 earned-run average through 151.1 innings – all career-highs. She threw 16 complete games and six shutouts while striking out 1-3 batters and limiting opponents to a .227 batting average. At the plate, Knopf hit .283 with three home runs and 20 RBIs, batting in 42 of the team’s 45 games.
For her four-year career, Knopf compiled a 35-21 career record from the circle and a 2.13 earned-run average in 364.2 innings of work. She also amassed 259 strikeouts, 14 shutouts, and two saves along with 38 complete games in 51 career starts.
At the plate, Knopf posted a .279 career batting average over the course of 502 at-bats, slugging 14 home runs and driving home 94 runs. She appeared in 174 career games as a hitter and 71 games as a pitcher.
