Emily Goshorn returns to the Shippensburg University softball team in 2017 and will spend her second season as an assistant coach with the Raiders.
An All-American softball pitcher for the Raiders from 2011-14, Goshorn (formerly Estep) will focus her coaching work with SU’s pitching staff. She first worked as a volunteer assistant coach with her alma mater during the 2015 season.
In 79 career games, Goshorn finished her career with a 62-21 career record, 652 strikeouts and a 1.65 ERA. Her storied run with the Raiders ranks her second in school history for career strikeouts, third in victories, fifth in winning percentage and fifth in appearances.
As a senior, Goshorn became the first SU player to be named a Daktronics First Team All-American since the creation of the awards in 2007. She set career bests in virtually every pitching category: a 25-4 record, a 1.18 ERA and 208 strikeouts in 190 innings. Included in her efforts were nine shutouts, three no-hitters, two saves and 23 complete games in 27 starts. One of her no-hitters came against IUP in the first round of the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships.
Goshorn, a native of Chambersburg, works for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). Emily married Jordan Goshorn in November 2016.
