Dina Beston (Chiappelli) is in her fifth year as an assistant coach with the Shippensburg University softball team in 2021.
Beston specializes in offensive skill instruction, assists with infield and outfield instruction, and plays a primary role in both scouting and in the recruiting process for prospective student-athletes. As a coach, Beston believes in hitting with a positive mindset and adopts a positive approach to hitting instruction.
Beston played collegiate softball at Alvernia from 2008-11, playing a variety of positions including shortstop, second base and center field. As a junior, Beston ranked fourth on the team in batting average -- a feat she also achieved as a sophomore as one of just two Crusaders to start in every game.
A native of Shippensburg, Pa., Beston graduated from Shippensburg Area Senior High School in 2007 where she played field hockey, basketball, and softball at the varsity level. She was a 2007 Mid-Penn Conference First Team All Star and a Mid-Penn Conference Scholar-Athlete.
Beston works as a logistics specialist at Cargill in Shippensburg, Pa. She is the daughter of Gerry and Shawn Chiappelli and has one brother, Matt, a 2016 SU graduate who worked as a student assistant coach with the SU football team and has been an assistant coach with Alvernia Football for the last three seasons.
