One of the most accomplished pitchers in Shippensburg history remains with the program as an assistant coach. Dani Shields begins her first season as an assistant coach for the Lady Raiders in the 2008-09 campaign.
Shields concluded her Lady Raider softball career in 2008 and ranks third in school history for career victories (56), games (104) and innings (575.2) while also finishing second in strikeouts (627).
At Shippensburg, Shields made 92 career starts and logged 55 complete games during her tenure. Over her four-year career, Shippensburg compiled 132 victories and reached the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament each season.
Shields, a coaching minor at Shippensburg, was the 2005 PSAC Eastern Division Rookie of the Year and has pitched the only perfect game for Shippensburg in the last 10 years. She will assist with the pitching staff this season.
