2013 (R-Freshman): In his first season as a Raider, Despreaux competed in six races varying three different distances. He broke 27 minutes in two 8K races, including a turn as SU’s No. 4 runner at Gettysburg and No. 5 runner at Lock Haven. Despreaux posted a Top 25 finish in the Dickinson Short Invitational and was the No. 4 runner among SU’s open competitors at Paul Short. In track, Despreaux was a PSAC outdoor place-winner in the steeplechase, placing sixth in 9:40, while also qualifying outdoors at 5K.
2012 (Freshman): Despreaux completed a redshirt season for the Riverhawks of UMass Lowell, running unattached in one race. He completed 8,000 meters on his home course at the River Hawk Invitational. During the indoor track season, Despreaux placed eighth in the 3K at the NE-10 Championships.
Troy Area High School: Despreaux tallied seven varsity letters with the Trojans running for coach Ronald Bellinger. He posted a personal best of 16:09 at 5K. Academically, Despreaux graduated with honors.
Personal: Zachary Vaugh Despreaux is the son of Doug Despreaux and Christina Fuller. He is majoring in economics and concentrating in public administration.
