2013 (Junior): Running steady in his third year with the Raiders, Gelston was a Top 5 runner in five of his six competitions. At the PSAC Championships, Gelston posted a Top 30 finish as the team’s No. 5 runner. He was the No. 3 runner in the ‘Gold’ race at the Paul Short Invitational and also rounded out the team’s lineup at the NCAA Atlantic Region Championships. Gelston also improved his personal bests at 6K and 8K while debuting at 4K in the Dickinson Short Invitational. On the track, Gelston became a NCAA All-American after posting an eighth-place outdoor finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. He was the runner-up in the steeplechase at the PSAC Championships. Indoors, Gelston placed fifth at the PSAC Championships in the 3K. He was also a PSAC indoor and outdoor qualifier at 5K.
 
2012 (Sophomore): Gelston continued a steady pace as a scoring performer for the Raiders in his second season, serving as the team’s No. 3 runner at the PSAC Championships. He served as the No. 6 runner at the Atlantic Region Championships with a new 10K personal best of 32:53. During the track season, Gelston was a PSAC indoor qualifier at 3K and 5K and a PSAC outdoor qualifier in the steeplechase.   
 
2011 (Freshman): In a memorable first year with the Raiders, Gelston snuck in as one of the lead pack for the Raiders. He made a huge impression early in the season after placing among the Top 100 finishers of the open race at the Paul Short Invitational as the fastest of nine Raiders in that competition. At the PSAC Championships, Gelston was a Top 50 finisher and served as SU’s No. 6 runner. He was SU’s No. 7 runner at the NCAA regional and national championship meets. His most memorable achievement as a freshman, however, came on the track – as he won the PSAC 3K steeplechase title with a time of 9:17.91. Gelston set a NCAA provisional qualifying time with the victory as the 10th seed in just his third collegiate steeplechase.
 
White Plains High School: Gelston earned multiple letters as a cross country and track participant for the Tigers under head coach Fred Singleton. His track specialty was the steeplechase. He was a two-time West Chester County champion in the steeplechase and was a New York state qualifier in the event. In cross country, Gelston was also a state qualifier. He also played ice hockey.
 
Personal: Peter William Gelston is the son of Bob and Barbra Gelston. He has two brothers, Andrew and Matt. He is majoring in biology.
