Matt Gross joins the Shippensburg University cross country coaching staff in 2021 as a volunteer assistant.
Gross was a mid-distance runner for the Raiders from 2016-21, specializing in the 800 meters on the track. He was a two-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champion, winning a 2017 outdoor title with the 4x800-meter relay and a 2018 indoor title with the distance medley relay. Overall, Gross was a four-time PSAC placewinner, including three All-PSAC finishes.
As a varsity athlete at Trinity High School, Gross was a PIAA Championships state medalist in the 800 meters and a two-time state medalist with his school’s 4x800-meter relay.
A native of Hummelstown, Gross earned his undergraduate degree in communication/journalism (public relations concentration) in May 2020. He studying toward a master’s degree in applied psychology at Shippensburg.
