2013 (Sophomore): McGinley continued his development and impressed in the postseason for the Raiders. He served as the team’s No. 3 runner at both the PSAC Championships and NCAA Atlantic Region Championships, placing 23rd and 18th, respectively, before a turn as the team’s No. 4 runner at the NCAA Championships. He established a new 8K PR at Gettysburg, running 26:17 and finishing fifth overall as SU’s No. 1 runner, and impressed in the open race at the Paul Short Invitational as the team’s No. 2 runner. In track, McGinley ran in the 3K and 5K at the PSAC Indoor Championships. He did not compete outdoors.

2012 (Freshman): As a freshman, McGinley ran in the first three races of the season before an injury prevented him from further competition. He was among SU’s top performers, serving as the team’s No. 3 runner at both the Monmouth Invitational (Top-20 finish) and the Paul Short Invitational. His season debut was a Top-25 finish in the Piper Alumni Challenge as SU’s No. 4 runner.

Rising Sun High School: McGinley earned five varsity letters with the Tigers under coach Gail Dillaway. He earned All-State accolades as a senior cross country runner and also achieved All-County honors. Among his specialty events were the 1,600 and 3,200 meters as well as the 5K. McGinley also played soccer.

Personal: Austin John McGinley is the son of Shawn and Elaine McGinley. He is majoring in geoenvironmental studies while pursuing a minor in biology and a letter of completion in geographic information systems. McGinley has two siblings: Lindsey and Shane. Lindsey is on the West Chester cross country team.
