Mike Nestor is the most tenured member of the organization as he enters his 11th year as an assistant coach on the men's basketball staff. He is a 2000 graduate of Shippensburg University and played basketball for the Red Raiders from 1995-2000.

Nestor is an invaluable asset to the men’s basketball program and assists in every aspect of the team while displaying the utmost professionalism. He coordinates the team’s high school recruiting and the advanced scouting of all opponents while traveling across the state as a tireless recruiter.

Additionally, Nestor is an integral teacher and instructor in practice. He has also played an extremely major role in the development of Shippensburg's guards, which have produced tremendous results during his watch.

With the coaching of Nestor, Marcus Hudson became Shippensburg's career steals leader in 2006 and Chuck Davis was named the PSAC Western Division Player of the Year and has graduated at the top of Shippensburg's career scoring list. His guards have also become known for their aggressive defensive play, which has been instrumental in the Red Raiders' success in recent years.

His coaching versatility has been showcased by working with all positions on the team. Nestor served as the primary coach for the post players during the 2007-08 season while his former student, Marcus Hudson, worked with the guards. That year, three different post players averaged at least 13 points and seven rebounds per game.

Nestor is also responsible for monitoring the academic support of the student-athletes in the men’s basketball program.

During his athletic career at Shippensburg, Nestor lettered four years and was captain of the team for two years. He scored a total of 631 points. In addition he had 263 rebounds and 218 assists. Primarily a guard, Nestor also saw action at forward. He was the starting point guard in 1997-98 and 1998-99.

Nestor is from Collingdale and a 1995 graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School. He played for Shippensburg in 1995-96 and then led the team in three-pointers with 27 the following season. As a junior in 1999, he led Shippensburg in assists with 92 and then as a senior in 2000, he was second on the team in assists with 45.

Nestor completed his master’s degree in communications studies at Shippensburg in 2005. He was recently married and lives with his wife Sarah in Carlisle.
