Justin McCarthur ’18 is in his second season as an assistant coach for SU men’s basketball team in 2020-21.
McCarthur, a two-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Eastern Division performer, is the best three-point shooter in Shippensburg’s history. He is SU’s all-time leader in career three-pointers (291 – ninth in PSAC history), SU's single-season record holder in career three-pointers (101 in 2016-17), and holds a pair of single-game records: three-point accuracy (9-of-9 vs. East Stroudsburg, also a PSAC record) and free-throw percentage (15-of-15 as a senior against Bloomsburg.
In a distinguished Raider career from 2014-18, McCarthur finished with 1,650 career points – fourth-most in school history. He averaged 14.1 points per game over a 117-game career. He also finished with 334 career assists.
McCarthur graduated from Shippensburg in 2018 with a degree in criminal justice.
