Jamaal Benjamin joins the Shippensburg men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2009-10 season after completing his collegiate career at nearby Dickinson College. He will serve as a social equity coach.
Benjamin, a New York native from Campbell Hall, was a three-year letter winner for the Red Devils. He provided depth in the paint and proved to be a valuable rebounder on both ends of the floor. He helped the Red Devils reach the Centennial Conference playoffs in 2008 for the first time since 1997.
The Devils won their opening round playoff game at McDaniel College before falling to Ursinus College in the semifinals. The team went on to earn a bid to the Eastern College Athletic Conference South Region Tournament that season as well.
Benjamin earned a degree in International Business and Management in May of 2009. He worked as a paralegal intern while in college and has significant experience with the Red Devil basketball camps, serving as an intramural referee and a camp counselor to children.
