Chuck Davis ’07, a 2017 SU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, is in his fourth season as an assistant coach on the Shippensburg University men’s basketball staff.
In a distinguished Raider career from 2003-04 through 2006-07, Davis scored a school-record 1,825 points – putting him among the Top 25 scorers in the history of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). Davis is the first player in Shippensburg history to total two 500-point seasons and also finished his career with a school-record 203 steals.
A three-time All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team selection, Davis became the first player in school history to earn conference Player of the Year honors, as he was named PSAC Western Division Player of the Year as a junior in 2005-06. Following his senior season, Davis was named as an NABC All-East Region First Team selection in 2007 and a Daktronics, Inc. All-East Region Second Team honoree.
Davis helped lead the Raiders to 69 wins in four seasons. The 2005-06 Raiders won a school-record 24 games, won the PSAC Western Division with an 11-1 record, reached the PSAC Championship game, and appeared in the NCAA Tournament for just the second time in school history and the first time since 1990-91.
After earning his sociology degree in 2007, Davis pursued a professional basketball career playing overseas in Turkey and also in the NBA Development League with the Colorado 14ers. He has worked in the mental health field, working with adolescents and adults with mental health and chemical dependency disorders, including a role as a case manager at Roxbury Treatment Center.
In 2015, Davis returned to campus to study for a master’s degree in the Organizational Development and Leadership Program for Higher Education Structure and Policy. He worked as a graduate assistant with the Academic Success Program (ASP) in addition to coaching with the Raiders. In October 2018, Davis was hired as Shippensburg University’s Student Success Coach for Student-Athletes.
Davis graduated from Shippensburg in 2007 with a degree in sociology. He continues to pursue his master’s degree in organizational development & leadership at Shippensburg, concentrating in higher education structure and policy. Davis was married to Amber Quivers ’07/’17M in the summer of 2018.
