Four-year letterwinner Vinnie Ranauto will assist the coaching staff during the 2012 season as he completes his studies toward an undergraduate degree in management.
Ranauto suited up for the Red Raiders from 2008-11 and did not use a redshirt season. A team captain his senior season, the hard-hitting linebacker amassed 186 tackles in his career — including 18.5 for loss — over the course of 38 games. He played in all 12 games of the memorable 2009 season in which SU won the "State Game" over California (Pa.).
As a junior in 2010, Ranauto earned All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team honors after a 65-tackle, two-interception campaign. He ranked second on the team in tackles (60) as a sophomore in 2009 and earned PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week honors during that season after a memorable performance against Kutztown.
Ranauto's career statistics also include five interceptions and 4.5 sacks.
