Ty Cobb enters his second season as a graduate assistant football coach at Shippensburg University in 2023. His primary coaching responsibilities are with the defensive backs.

Cobb also maintains valuable roles in recruiting, video coordination, breakdown, practice preparation, scouting and social media.

He arrived at Shippensburg in August of 2022 after serving as the tight ends coach at Keystone College in the spring of 2022. With the Giants, Cobb designed and executed practice plans and facilitated team meetings while assisting with strength & conditioning, film breakdown and equipment.

As a collegiate player at Catholic University, Cobb was a three-year starter on the defensive line before transitioning to the offensive line as a senior. He recorded 48 career tackles and All-Academic honoree by the New England Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). In high school, Cobb was a member of a West Deptford (N.J.) High School team that won the 2016 state championship and he was a team captain on a team that was the 2017 state runner-up.

Cobb is a member of an athletic family. His father John played golf collegiately at Rutgers, while his mother Cindy played soccer at The College of New Jersey. He also has two brothers who are athletes: Jake is a member of the cross country and track & field teams at MIT, and Brady is a quarterback at West Deptford High School.

A native of West Deptford, N.J., Cobb graduated cum laude from Catholic in 2021 with a degree in Media & Communication Studies. He is now enrolled in the Organizational Development & Leadership program at Shippensburg, concentrating in business.
