Shane Baker is in his second full season with the Shippensburg University football coaching staff in 2020. He has transitioned to a role as an assistant coach after serving as the team's graduate assistant from February 2019 through January 2021.Â
Baker coached the defensive backs in his role as a graduate assistant. In addition to his instructional work, Baker serves valuable roles with recruiting, film breakdown, game preparation and social media coordination.

Prior to his arrival at Shippensburg, Baker served as a football intern at Lock Haven from 2017-18. Baker was elevated to running backs coach for the 2018 season. As the running backs coach, Baker helped mentor an All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) performer in Chantz Swartz while instructing a backfield that averaged 152.5 rushing yards per game.

Additional duties with the Bald Eagles included work recruiting various districts in Pennsylvania and offensive quality control. Baker also served as the team’s co-social media coordinator and assisted with graphic design efforts to promote the Bald Eagles.

In his work as an intern at Lock Haven, Baker specialized in gameday operations and assisted as a signal caller for the Bald Eagle offense.

Baker also played collegiately at Lock Haven, suiting up as both a wide receiver and as a defensive back. He served as a mentor for health and physical education students at Lock Haven before transitioning to coaching.

Other coaching assistance includes work as a volunteer coach at both Altoona Area and Portage High Schools. Baker worked as a wide receiver coach and defensive back coach at both schools.

Baker earned his undergraduate degree in health and physical education from Lock Haven in 2018. He earned his master’s degree in Organizational Development & Leadership at Shippensburg, with a concentration in higher education structure & policy, in December 2020.
