Valen Alonso is in her fourth season on the Shippensburg University coaching staff in 2025.
Most recently, Alonso helped guide SU to a No. 1 regular season ranking and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) title and was a member of a Raider coaching staff that was named the 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Atlantic Region Coaching Staff of the Year.
In 2023, the Raiders boasted one of NCAA Division II's most talented attacks, finishing fourth in the classification with 3.25 goals per game. The campaign also featured a breakout season from Emma Albee in goal (NCAA Division II-leading .821 save percentage), and resulted in trips to the PSAC Championship game and the NCAA Division II Semifinals.
In her first season, Alonso helped guide the Raiders to a NCAA Divsion II runner-up finish.
Alonso returned to her alma mater in 2022 after working as a credit analyst at F&M Trust.
As a student-athlete at Shippensburg, Alonso was a starting midfielder and is a 2018 NCAA Division II National Champion. Alonso totaled seven goals, eight assists and 22 points in 39 career games. She was twice selected to the ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA Division II National Academic Squad and was part of the 2020 NFHCA Senior Team.
A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Alonso earned a bachelor’s degree in finance with a minor in economics.
