Angie Loy, a member of the U.S. Olympic Field Hockey team that will compete this summer in Beijing, joins the Shippensburg field hockey coaching staff as a volunteer assistant. The native of West Perry High School is a former standout player from Old Dominion who has recorded 89 international caps and scored 27 goals in international competition for the United States.

A two-time First Team All-American and 2003 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year with Old Dominion, Loy served as an assistant coach with the Lady Monarchs after concluding her playing career in 2003.

As a senior, Loy led the Monarchs to their eighth consecutive CAA title and 23rd consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament earning first-team All-American honors from both the NFHCA and womensfieldhockey.com for the second consecutive season. Loy, named the CAA Tournament MVP, ranked second nationally with 69 points, 2.875 points per game, and 21 assists.

A native of Loysville, she finished her stellar career ranked fourth in career goals (77), ninth in career assists (56), and fourth all-time in scoring with 210 career points. She is also the third Old Dominion player in history to earn National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Academic Honor Roll honors for four consecutive years.

Loy has been a member of the U.S. Field Hockey National Team roster since December, 2003. She earned her first career cap versus Ireland on Jan. 14, 2004 at Stanford and scored first and second career goals versus Canada just 10 days later. Among her many highlights includes scoring the game-winning goal in a 2-1 win over Argentina in 2006 at the AstroTurf March on Madrid for the first U.S. victory over its South American rivals since 1991.

Among Loy’s other international competition includes the 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, the 2005 Champions Challenge in Virginia Beach, and the 2006 World Cup in Madrid, Spain. She graduated from Old Dominion in 2005.
