Amanda Strous returns for her third season as an assistant coach at her alma mater and her fourth overall in 2014.
Over the last two seasons, Strous has been an integral instructor alongside SU head coach Bertie Landes – assisting with many of the team’s operations. SU has posted a 37-4 record in two seasons with Strous on the staff, claiming the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championship after an overtime victory over LIU Post.
In 2011, Strous began her coaching tenure as an assistant coach at Hamilton College (N.Y.), a season in which the Continentals competed in the conference quarterfinals.
Strous was a forward at Shippensburg from 2007-10, appearing in 79 games for the Raiders and making 45 starts. She totaled 24 goals and 13 assists for 61 career points.
As a senior in 2010, a season in which Shippensburg competed in the Division II National Championship Finals against Massachusetts-Lowell, Strous served as a team captain and had a career year with 11 goals and five assists.
Strous completed her undergraduate education in 2011 with a bachelor of science in psychology and a minor in art. She is currently studying toward a master’s degree in mental health counseling.
