Shippensburg University Athletics

2015 (R-Freshman): Played in 19 games, making 15 starts, as a corner infielder in his debut season…hit .244 with a homer and four RBIs over 41 at-bats…stole three bases in three tries…finished with a .367 on-base percentage…his first career home run, a three-run shot, came on April 11 in a 10-8 win against Millersville...made 12 starts at third base and three as the designated hitter.
 
2014 (Freshman): Redshirt season.
 
Northern York High School: Earned three varsity letters for the Polar Bears under head coach Brian Robinson…batted .303 with 69 hits, 30 RBIs, 15 doubles and two home runs in his career…named a Mid-Penn All-Star…team won the PIAA ‘AAA’ state championship his sophomore year…also played soccer…also played for club team PA Select under head coach Randy Gibson.
 
About Betz: Full name is Tyler James Betz…is the son of Jim and Melinda Betz…major is geoenvironmental studies…older brothers Colby and Corey each played baseball at IUP.
