Biography

2015 (Junior): Remained a reliable weekend starter in his third season with SU…totaled a 4-5 record with a 5.87 ERA in 13 games (10 starts)…SU was 6-4 in his 10 starts…struck out team-high 70 and walked 26 in 61.1 innings…tossed three complete games, including two in back-to-back starts on March 22 and March 27 (both wins)…struck out 10-plus batters in three consecutive starts from March 22 – April 4 (all wins)…allowed just four hits (all singles) and one unearned run while striking out 11 in a win over Mansfield on March 22…struck out 10 batters vs. East Stroudsburg and at Millersville in back-to-back starts following 11-strikeout game…struck out five and allowed one unearned run in five innings vs. Le Moyne on March 8…earned only save of the season, throwing two perfect innings and striking out three in 6-5 win at Barton on Feb. 19…allowed one earned run and struck out nine in 6.1 innings at UNC-Pembroke on Feb. 28…earned conference win over West Chester on April 24, allowing three earned runs over six innings.
 
2014 (Sophomore): Named to the All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team squad after transitioning to a full-time starter in his second season with the Raiders...flourished in his new role, pitching 63 innings over 10 starts with a 2.43 ERA…tossed six or more innings eight times…gave up more than two earned runs on just two occasions…allowed 55 hits, 25 runs (17 earned) and one home run…totaled 47 strikeouts and 16 walks…named the PSAC East Co-Pitcher of the Week and the NCBWA Atlantic Region Pitcher of the Week on Mar. 19 after a nine-inning, one-hit shutout versus LeMoyne in which he allowed just two base runners and retired the final 15 batters he faced…the one hit allowed is the fewest in a complete game for an SU pitcher since Tim Freshour threw a home no-hitter vs. Lock Haven in a seven-inning game on Mar. 21, 2009…struck out a career-best nine batters in 6.2 shutout innings, allowing four hits (all singles) versus Lock Haven…tossed eight innings of one-run ball, allowing three hits while striking out three vs. Millersville…struck out seven and allowed two runs in 7.2 innings vs. Slippery Rock.
 
2013 (Freshman): Thrived as a back-end relief pitcher in his rookie season on his way to ABCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team honors and All-PSAC East Second Team recognition…was the only freshman selection to the ABCA All-Atlantic Region squad…the team’s primary right-handed reliever…posted a team-best 1.93 earned-run average in 28.0 innings of work…made 18 relief appearances and earned three victories…recorded three saves…struck out 20 while giving up just three walks and six earned runs…did not give up an earned run until his 11th collegiate appearance…pitched two or more innings on five occasions, including a career-high 4.1 innings of relief against Grand Valley State in the national finals…struck out a career-high four batters in 3.2 innings against West Chester.
 
Bedford High School: Earned four varsity letters for the Bison under head coach Scott Waugerman…named First Team All-Star after all four of his seasons…received All-Conference honors…fanned 73 hitters in 43 innings as a senior…also played football.
 
About Shippey: Full name is Marcus Alexander Shippey…is the son of the late Barry Shippey and Sandy Shippey… double majoring in business management and marketing…has a brother, Brett.
