Mark Chimel joins the SU baseball staff in 2015-16 as an assistant coach who will function as the team’s pitching coach. He will also share the role of recruiting coordinator with fellow assistant Andrew Pezzuto. 
 
Chimel joins the Raiders after serving as the pitching coach for the last two seasons at Lancaster Bible College. He established brand new development programs with the Chargers and was responsible for the development and oversight of the team’s pitchers.
 
Additional coaching experience includes a role as the head coach of the Tri-State Arsenal, a top travel team based in New Jersey. Chimel began his work with the Arsenal in 2013.
 
For the last four years, Chimel has been active as an instructor, scout, coach and camp clinician throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. With camps, Chimel was an instructor for three years at the Carmen Fusco Pro Baseball Academy – organizing drills and instructing young athletes with swing mechanics and mental preparation.
 
Chimel joined the Keystone Baseball Academy in 2014 and has served as an instructor specializing in velocity development for high school and youth athletes. At Keystone, Chimel has also assisted with hitting and pitching mechanics through video analysis.
 
With scouting, Chimel has worked with Prep Baseball Report in Manheim to help run showcase events and provide player evaluation. His high school scouting provides assistance to collegiate coaches with recruiting.
 
As a collegiate athlete, Chimel was the captain of the Penn State Harrisburg varsity squad in 2012 and was a three-year PSH Scholar-Athlete honoree and North Eastern Athletic Conference Academic award winner with the Lions.
 
Chimel earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State Harrisburg in 2012. He is currently studying toward a master’s degree in higher education from Messiah College, concentrating in college athletics management.
