Anthony Renz is in his second season on the Shippensburg University baseball coaching staff in 2018, serving as a volunteer assistant.
A 2015 magna cum laude graduate of Mansfield University, Renz earned his bachelor of science in electronic media while achieving minors in public relations and business. At SU, he is currently seeking a master of science in communications studies.

Renz was a three-year baseball captain with the Mountaineers. On the diamond, Renz was a .304 hitter, totaling 19 home runs and 101 RBIs over a four-year career. As a senior, Renz was an All-PSAC Eastern Division First Team and All-Region performer who hit .357 with eight home runs and 37 RBIs while ranking ninth in the conference with 14 doubles.

Following his graduation in 2015, Renz signed a professional contract with the Las Vegas Train Robbers of the Pecos League. He later moved to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks of the American Association for two months before settling in with the Evansville Otters of the prestigious Frontier League.
In the classroom, Renz received awards for maintaining the highest GPA of any student in the communications department as both a freshman and a senior. He also received Mansfield University’s Outstanding Senior Award by the communications department. Renz was a Presidential Scholar Athlete and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar Athlete who also served as a senior senator in the Student Government Association (SGA).
At Mansfield, Renz was a four-year student assistant and later an intern with the Mansfield University sports information office, working under College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Hall of Famer Steve McCloskey. Renz served as a statistician for the majority of Mansfield’s fall sports while also filling a variety of important roles pertaining to video editing, gameday operations and post-game press releases.
Renz works at Shippensburg University as the graduate assistant in the sports information office. He serves as a secondary contact for all 20 of SU’s intercollegiate athletic sports while also handling a wide variety of roles in the office that includes tasks such as writing post-game recaps, creating game programs and completing in-game statistics.
