Andrew Pezzuto joins the SU coaching staff in 2016 as its primary assistant. Among his primary responsibilities includes team defensive work and hitting instruction. He will share the role of recruiting coordinator with fellow assistant Mark Chimel.
 
Pezzuto joins the SU staff after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Franklin Pierce University for the last two seasons. At Franklin Pierce, Pezzuto coached outfielders, hitters and base running. He also helped develop and lead the strength and conditioning program for position players. Pezzuto also used computer software and video analysis to assist with hitters.
 
Off the field, Pezzuto was active in team recruiting and assisted with the operations of multiple camps and exposure clinics.
 
With the help of Pezzuto, Franklin Pierce finished first in stolen bases in all levels of NCAA baseball in 2015 with 217 in 52 games. The Ravens (48-4) also finished 15th in runs scored (434) and 33rd in batting average (.319).

Pezzuto was also the co-head coach of the Franklin Pierce club baseball team, which plays in the New England Club Baseball Association. He has also coached at the Ultimate Sports Academy and led the New England Ravens Rindge AAU team at both the 16U and 18U level.
 
Prior to coaching, Pezzuto played for four years at SUNY-Cortland, where his team played in the 2010 and 2012 NCAA Division III College World Series. As a senior in 2012, Pezzuto hit .367 with a .547 slugging percentage. He was named the 2012 New York Regional Tournament MVP as well as earning All-SUNYAC First Team honors and a selection to the ECAC All-Star Team.
 
Pezzuto then played at Southern New Hampshire University as a graduate student. He was named a team captain and earned All-America honors after hitting .365 with five doubles, seven triples and a home run. After finishing his collegiate playing career, Pezzuto played for the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League as an outfielder for three games in the 2013 season.
 
Pezzuto, a Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y. native, graduated from SUNY-Cortland in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in business economics before attaining his master’s degree from Franklin Pierce in sport management in 2015.
