Shippensburg University Athletics

2021-22 (Junior): Competed in 11 singles matches for the Raiders and 10 doubles matches…worked primarily as the team’s No. 4 singles player during the fall and the team’s No. 6 singles player during the spring…won two matches, including a straight-set win over Gettysburg…won a conference doubles match against East Stroudburg with partner Merel Hoekstra.
 
2020-21 (Sophomore): Competed in five singles matches for the Raiders in her sophomore season…worked primarily as the team’s No. 6 singles player…took to the court twice at No. 5 singles…won a single match at No. 5 singles in straight sets against a competitor from Lock Haven.
 
2019-20 (Freshman): Competed in seven singles matches and seven doubles matches for the Raiders in her debut season…worked primarily as the team’s No. 4 singles player and in the team’s primary No. 2 doubles pairing…won a singles match in three sets against a competitor from Immaculata…took to the court four times at No. 4 singles, once at No. 3 singles and two times at No. 5 singles.  
 
Upper Merion High School: Earned four varsity letters for the Vikings under head coach Eric Bowe…voted team MVP as a senior…tied for most singles victories on her team…selected three consecutive years to compete in the Pac 10 Singles Tournament…received the Marine Corp Scholastic Award for maintaining distinguished honors throughout high school…also earned a varsity letter in crew.
 
About Islam: Full name is Sahar Sanaa Islam…is the daughter of Suli and Ahataliah Islam…majoring in political science, concentrating in international political science, while seeking a minor in international development…has a brother, Sifet, a sister, Surii, and a pet cat named Billie Holiday.
