2017 (R-Junior): Thrived as a starting free safety in his third full season on the field…named to the All-PSAC Eastern Division First Team and Football Gazette All-Region Third Team…earned the Most Improved Red Raider Award at the team’s postseason awards banquet…finished fourth on the team with a career-high 60 tackles (37 solo)…ranked second on the team with four interceptions and eight pass breakups…recorded a single-game career best of 12 tackles to complement an interception in the NCAA playoffs against West Chester…posted 10 tackles at Clarion and seven tackles in regular-season games against East Stroudsburg and West Chester…achieved multiple tackles in 10 games and at least one tackle in all 11 games played…notched forced fumbles against Cheyney and East Stroudsburg…accrued 2.5 tackles-for-loss (TFLs)…selected as the PSAC Eastern Division Defensive Player of the Week after a road victory over Kutztown that featured six tackles, two interceptions and two additional pass breakups…missed the season opener due to injury…credited with at least one pass defensed in six games.
 
2016 (R-Sophomore): Appeared in three games as a reserve safety and special teams performer before sustaining a season-ending injury…made two tackles against American International and Gannon.
 
2015 (R-Freshman): Played in all 11 games as a reserve safety and special teams performer in his first season on the field…registered nine tackles (five solo) for the season…recorded a single-game career best four tackles at Edinboro…notched multiple tackles against East Stroudsburg…had at least one tackle in five games.
 
2014 (Freshman): Redshirt season.
 
Woodrow Wilson High School: Earned multiple varsity letters for the Tigers under head coach Mark Martin…named to the 2013 All-DCIAA Stars Division Second Team squad at cornerback…worked as a senior captain…recorded multiple interceptions as a senior…also competed as a sprinter and hurdler in track & field.
 
About Sheler: Full name is Richard Javon Sheler…is the son of Richard Sheler Sr. and Donna Sheler…majoring in biology, concentrating in pre-physical therapy, while seeking a minor in exercise science…has two siblings.
