2010-11 (Junior): Won a NCAA indoor national championship with the DMR squad during his third season at Shippensburg…ran the 800-meter leg…helped establish the new school record in the DMR with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark at the Penn State National Invitational…established a new indoor PR with a PSAC-qualifying performance at the New Balance Games…took a medical redshirt during the outdoor season.

2009-10 (Sophomore): Continued to improve as an 800-meter runner for the Raiders…placed third with the indoor 4x800-meter team as the third leg of the relay…qualified for the 800 meters at the PSAC indoor meet with a PR at the New Balance Games…established his current outdoor PR with a solid time at the Princeton Elite Meet and qualified for the PSAC outdoor meet in the process. 

2008-09 (Freshman): Ran the 800 meters during his debut season with the Raiders…began a streak of three All-PSAC efforts with the indoor 4x800-meter relay team, placing third as the third leg of the quartet…established his outdoor PR at the Paul Kaiser Classic and his indoor PR at the Bucknell Winter Classic.

Lansdale Catholic High School: Earned eight varsity letters for the Crusaders under coach Keith Spiers…led the 4x800-meter relay team to a fourth-place finish at the PIAA state championships…broke two school records…qualified for states as a senior in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track…honored with All-PAC 10 honors on three occasions…also played soccer for three years.

Personal: Full name is Pio Francis Mandato…is the son of Vincenzo and the late Sue Mandato… majoring in human communication studies…has a brother, Andrew, who plays football at the University of Chicago…father played collegiate soccer at Penn.
