Biography

2013 (R-Junior): Earned All-PSAC East First Team honors in his third competitive season, improving upon his Second Team picks his first two seasons…started every game…was second on the team with 79 total tackles and 44 solo stops…11.5 tackles for loss (31 yards lost) were second-most on the team and ranked among the Top-15 in the PSAC…added three sacks as a pass rusher and was stout in pass coverage as well, totaling five pass breakups…made a season-high 12 tackles and broke up two passes vs. West Chester and was named the VFW Homecoming Defensive MVP…also made 10 tackles, including 2.5 for loss, at Slippery Rock…recorded sacks against Kutztown and East Stroudsburg and half-sacks against Lock Haven and IUP…named to the Capital One Academic All-District 1 Team…earned the John E. Hubley Award for the player with the highest GPA as well as the Guy and Virginia Hoy Scholarship at the team banquet.
 
2012 (R-Sophomore): Named to the All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team at linebacker after another splendid season in the middle for the Red Raiders…also selected to the Capital One Academic All-District team for his work both on the field and in the classroom…started all 13 games…led the squad with 103 tackles, including a team-high 66 solo stops…notched 8.0 tackles for loss, third-most on the team, and at least one in seven different games…contributed to half-sacks against Slippery Rock and LIU Post that totaled 12 yards…returned an interception 63 yards for a touchdown in the NCAA playoffs versus eventual national finalist Winston-Salem State…picked off another pass during the regular season versus Bloomsburg and was credited with a 27-yard return…forced and recovered a fumble in the NCAA playoffs versus Bloomsburg…tallied four pass defenses, including two breakups…recorded a career-high 13 tackles in the regular-season meeting versus Bloomsburg…provided at least five tackles in all 13 games, including 10 at IUP and nine against ESU, Kutztown and Bloomsburg.

2011 (R-Freshman): Made an immediate impact on the field in his debut season of competition with the team…saw an increase in playing time in the second half of the season and started the final five games…named an All-PSAC Eastern Division Second Team selection…finished fourth on the team with 48 tackles…had 13.5 tackles for loss, including 4.5 sacks…forced two fumbles…intercepted passes in back-to-back weeks, returning one for 24 yards at Cheyney and another for 26 yards at Millersville…registered at least one tackle for loss in eight games, including a season-high 3.0 against both Cheyney and Millersville…also had a season-high eight tackles in both games…won the Most Improved Red Raider Award at the team banquet.
 
2010 (Freshman): Redshirt season.
 
Manheim Township High School: Two-year letterman who played for the Blue Streaks under head coach Michael Meinyk…helped Manheim Township to a 7-4 season and made an appearance in the PIAA District 3 playoffs…totaled 94 tackles and four interceptions defensively during his career…rushed for 1,546 yards on 246 carries out of the backfield to claim the Blue Streaks’ single season rushing record…had another 295 yards through the air…finished the season with 24 touchdowns and a team-leading 146 points…named the Lancaster-Lebanon League’s Section I Player of the Year, first team running back and second team linebacker following senior season...named a PA Football News Honorable Mention selection at running back as a senior…named to the PA All-Academic Second Team as following his junior and senior seasons…also played baseball for the Blue Streaks.
 
About Sourber:  Full name is Brian James Sourber…is the son of Mary and Scott Sourber…majoring in supply chain management and operations with a concentration in logistics management…has two older brothers, Ben and David, and a younger brother, Mark.
