Biography

2013 (Junior): Named the PSAC Eastern Division Pitcher of the Year after her third season with the Raiders…selected to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region First Team and NFCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team…led the PSAC in both ERA and batting average against at the completion of the regular season, posting 15 wins, seven shutouts and two saves…went 7-3 with a 0.64 ERA (55 IP, 5 ER) in PSAC Eastern Division games…threw two no-hitters, including one at regional qualifier West Chester that was the first by an SU pitcher in seven years, along with a one-hitter and a two-hitter while recording at least five strikeouts in 17 of 19 starts…in 24 appearances, Estep posted a 1.53 ERA and recorded 156 strikeouts in 137 innings…contributed to seven shutouts…completed 17 of 19 starts…recognized with four PSAC East Player of the Week awards during the regular season…posted 10 or more strikeouts in seven games, including back-to-back games of 12 strikeouts against Merrimack and Kutztown…yielded just four earned runs in a 81-inning stretch of the year from March 2 – April 13…notched two saves…threw a career-high 10 innings in a home game against West Chester with 11 strikeouts…went 2-for-7 in limited action at the plate with a double and two RBIs.

2012 (Sophomore): Continued her role as the team’s ace in her second season in the circle for the Raiders…posted a 7-6 record in 16 starts…posted a 2.85 earned-run average…led SU in games started, wins, complete games (eight) and innings pitched (88.1)…also led the Raiders and ranked third in the PSAC with 143 strikeouts…held opposing batters to a  .216 batting average, good for fourth-best in the conference…finished the season with a 6-2 record after getting off to a 1-4 start…made two relief appearances and earned a save after recording the final two outs in a 1-0 home win against Kutztown that snapped the Golden Bears’ 33-game win streak and gave KU its first conference loss of the season…totaled four hits at the plate, including a double and an RBI…started three games as a designated hitter…threw a career-high 15 strikeouts at Millersville to end the regular season, the most by a Raider in six seasons…in her next start, earned the win against California (Pa.) in the second game of the PSAC Tournament in which she struck out 14…also struck out 13 against Catawba and 12 against Millersville to go along with three other 11-strikeout games.

2011 (Freshman): Earned numerous postseason awards after a stellar debut season for the Raiders…named the PSAC Eastern Division Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year…honored with Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Atlantic Region Second Team honors…selected to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region First Team squad…chosen four times as a PSAC Player of the Week…allowed one earned run or fewer in all eight of her divisional starts, picking up wins in all of them…ranked third in the PSAC for ERA and was tied for fourth in total strikeouts…went 15-4 with a 1.64 earned-run average and 145 strikeouts…defeated three nationally-ranked programs during the season and struck out eight or more batters in 10 of her 23 appearances…voted the NFCA Division II national Pitcher of the Week on March 30 after winning all five of her appearances in a week in which she allowed just one earned run and 11 hits with 32 strikeouts…struck out 10 or more hitters in five games…tallied 13 complete games in 17 starts…yielded just seven earned runs in the final two months of the season, a stretch that spanned 44 innings…thrived at the plate, particularly during the first two-thirds of the season…slugged four home runs and 19 RBIs...launched a three-run home run and threw a three-hitter from the circle in a home victory over West Chester…had six multi-hit games and seven multi-RBI games.

Chambersburg Area Senior High School: Won multiple letters under head coach Harvey Staver…received All State Honorable Mention in 2009 and 2010…named the Chambersburg Public Opinion Player of the Year as a senior…tabbed The Herald Mail Pitcher of the Year at the conclusion of the 2009 season…twice selected to the Harrisburg Patriot News Big 11 Team…picked for Patriot News All Underclassmen Team in 2008…finished her career with 33 wins and 474 strikeouts...compiled a career earned-run average (ERA) of 0.81 and gave up just 31 earned runs over 272 career innings…allowed just 38 walks in her career…fared well with the bat, totaling a .279 career batting average.

Personal: Full name is Emily Elizabeth Estep…is the daughter of Scott and Cheryl Estep…majoring in communication/journalism…has a brother, Wade, and a sister, Paige.
