2010 (Junior): Strayer was a consistent scoring performer for Shippensburg in her third season with the team. She earned All-PSAC and All-Region honors after a 14th-place finish at the conference championship meet and a 13th-place at the NCAA regional meet. At the NCAA national championship meet, Strayer was SU’s No. 7 runner and finished among the Top 75 runners in the field. She opened the season with a new 4K PR at the Dickinson Short Invitional and also ran a solid 5K at the Greater Louisville Classic in the course that was later used for the national championships. During the track and field season, Strayer made her debut in the steeplechase and earned All-PSAC honors with a third-place finish in 11:19.68.

2009 (Sophomore): Strayer continued to impress in her second full season with Shippensburg. She capped off a strong campaign as the team’s No. 3 runner at the national championships, finishing among the Top 100 finishers overall with a season-best 6K time of 23:05. At the PSAC Championships, Strayer recorded an important finish as the team’s No. 5 runner that helped secure the team title. Overall, Strayer was the team’s No. 4 runner on two occasions, at Gettysburg and Mansfield. She competed in seven of the team’s eight races during the season and narrowly missed finishing as a points scorer at the regional meet.

2008 (Freshman): Making her debut with Shippensburg, Strayer wasted no time becoming an integral runner for the Lady Raiders. She finished as one of the team’s top six runners in all three of the team’s postseason matches, including a 28th-place finish at the Atlantic Regional Championships. Strayer also finished in 38th place at the PSAC Championships and recorded a solid effort at the Division II National Championships as well. She began the season with a fifth-place finish in the Alumni Open and recorded a personal-best 4K time of 15:05 at the Dickinson Invitational. Her personal-best time for a 6K event came at the Paul Short Invitational, where she clocked in at 22:48.

Forest Hills High School: Strayer posted sturdy personal bests in the three-mile run (18:40) and the 5,000-meters (18:53) along with a sixth-place finish at the PIAA State Championships in the 1,600-meters with a time of 5:06.95 while competing for For¬est Hills. She recorded a personal-best time of 11:08.31 in the 3,200-meters at the PIAA State Championships. Strayer placed eighth at the 2007 PIAA State Cross Country Championships with a time of 19:26 and then went on to place 43rd at the North¬east Footlocker Championships with a time of 19:16. She earned state medals in both the 1600 and 3200-meter events at the 2008 state track championships by placing sixth and seventh respectively.

Personal: Sarah Jo Strayer is majoring in elementary education while seeking a minor in coaching.
