Biography
2008-09 (Junior): Continued his strong performances and ended the season as the team’s top butterfly swimmer…was the team’s top placewinner in both butterfly flights at the conference championships…finished fifth in the 200-yard butterfly (1:55.36) and ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (52.33)…his time in the 200-yard butterfly was the team’s fastest for the season while the time in the 100-yard butterfly was the team’s third-fastest…completed the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.15 at the Zippy Invitational to compile the season’s fifth fastest time in the event.
2007-08 (Sophomore): A well rounded competitor who owned the third-best team times in both the 50-yard butterfly (26.08 seconds against West Chester) and the 100-yard butterfly (52.85 seconds at the Patriot Invitational)…held the fourth-best team time in the 200-yard fly after a time of 1:59.75 at the Patriot Invitational…also competed in individual medley events…owned the seventh-best team time in the 200-yard IM with a swim of 2:04.44 at George Mason…improved his personal bests in the 100 fly and the 200 IM by more than seven seconds from his freshman season.
2006-07 (Freshman): Delivered immediate contributions as a butterfly swimmer for the Red Raiders in his debut season…posted the second-fastest team times in both the 100 and 200 and delivered them in the conference championships…recorded fifth-place finishes in both butterfly events at the PSAC Championships…also figured into the mix as a competitor in individual medleys.
Personal: Full name is Evan Craigg Wentzel…is the son of James and Virginia Wentzel…born Oct. 28, 1987…majoring in biology.
