2010 (Freshman): Jones competed in four races for the Raiders in his debut season. His PR for the 6K was a 20:43 at the Alumni Invitational while also posting a PR in the 8K later in the season at the Division II Challenge with a time of 27:32. He performed well in track; posting PSAC indoor qualifiers in the 800 meters and the mile along with PSAC outdoor qualifiers in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters.
York Suburban High School: Jones was an exceptional athlete for the Trojans under coaches Ron Herman and Dan VanHouwe, earning eight varsity letters. His squad won the PIAA ‘AA’ championship in his senior, with Jones placing seventh at the district meet and third at the YAIAA counties meet with a PR for the 5K of 16:43. He was named his cross country team’s MVP as a senior in addition to receiving York Daily Record Division B All-Star honors as a junior and a senior. As a track athlete, Jones won the 800 at the YAIAA counties meet and placed fourth at the district meet to qualify for states with a school-record time of 1:56.22. He was also named his track team’s MVP as a senior in addition to receiving York Daily Record Division B All-Star honors as a junior and a senior.
Personal: Jacob Daniel Jones is the son of Danny and Kimberly Jones. He’s majoring in marketing. Jacob’s younger sister, Hannah, competes in cross country and track at York Suburban. His father competed in track at Montana State University who placed second in the 400 at the 1989 Big Sky Conference Championships.
