2010 (Junior): Schelander was named the 2010-11 Shippensburg University Student-Athlete of the Year after thriving in cross country and track. He was always among SU’s Top 4 runners when he competed. His postseason accolades included All-PSAC and All-Region honors with the Raiders. At the PSAC championship meet, Schelander was credited with a second-place finish, crossing the line almost in unison with three of his teammates. Two weeks later, Schelander finished eighth with a 10K time of 31:55. His 10K PR was established at the NCAA championship meet, where he finished 50th in 31:53. He was SU’s No. 2 runner in both of the NCAA postseason races. During the regular season, Schelander set his 8K PR at the Greater Louisville Classic with a time of 24:47 and ran the 4K at Dickinson’s Short Invite. As an indoor track competitor, Schelander finished third in the mile and seventh in the 3K at the PSAC Championships. His 4:12 time in the mile was an indoor career PR and a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. During the outdoor track season, Schelander finished third in the 5K and fourth in the 1,500 meters at the PSAC Championships.
2009 (Sophomore): In just his second season with the team, Schelander impressed as SU’s No. 1 runner at the NCAA championships and was in top form all season long. At the prestigious Paul Short Invitational, Schelander was also SU’s No. 1 runner with an 8K PR of 24:51. He was the team’s No. 3 runner at the Atlantic Regional Championships and the PSAC Championships, earning all-region honors with an eighth-place finish from the meet at Mansfield. On two occasions, Schelander finished fourth overall at a meet, including the 8K meet at Gettysburg and the 10K run at Mansfield. Schelander was the team’s No. 3 runner or better in six of the seven meets in which he competed and was the No. 4 runner in the Alumni 6K meet at the onset of the season. In track, Schelander was an All-PSAC competitor in the outdoor 5K and finished fourth in the outdoor 1,500 meters while earning All-Region honors in the 1,500 meters.
2008 (Freshman): Schelander debuted with the Red Raiders and finished his debut season as the PSAC Men’s Cross Country Rookie of the Year, posting an extremely solid 8K time of 26:00 at the PSAC Championships that distinguished him as the top freshman finisher and the only freshman to finish in the Top 30. He was one of the top-six finishers for Shippensburg this season in every meet in which he competed save for the Alumni Open to start the season; improving his 8K time by more than two minutes during the season. Schelander ran his first career 10K race in 33:51 at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships. During the indoor track season he contributed to a new school record and a PSAC title in the DMR while finishing fourth in the 3,000-meters.
